Now finally the Olympic flame is lit again after 5 years. This edition will be very special for the restrictions in force, but despite this we have tried to implement all possible actions regarding sustainability. Sustainability and the Olympics are a combination that has persisted for years and that has a strong resonance, although some choices are sometimes misunderstood by the press.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][dfd_spacer screen_wide_spacer_size="50" screen_normal_resolution="1024" screen_tablet_resolution="800" screen_mobile_resolution="480"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][dfd_heading subtitle="" delimiter_settings="delimiter_style:solid|delimiter_width:80|delimiter_height:1" undefined="" title_font_options="tag:h2" subtitle_font_options="tag:div" tutorials=""]

Olympic 2020 agenda, more sustainability for the Olympics

On 23 July 2021 the opening ceremony will kick off the dances of the competition between athletes and nations oldest in history. Even before it turned its attention to all the rules to be put in place to avoid infection, the Olympic Committee had already focused on how to make a sporting event of such magnitude sustainable.

The IOC’s commitment to greater sustainability of the games began in 2014 at the Munich meeting, where the 2020 Olympic Agenda was presented and approved. It is nothing more than the set of 40 very specific recommendations aimed at strengthening the three main themes of the then future and present: Credibility, Sustainability and Youth. The decision to make these objectives and the activities to achieve them known has been taken because the IOC is aware of how much these issues are necessary for the community and how many events such as the Olympics can act as a sounding board to raise awareness much more audience.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][dfd_spacer screen_wide_spacer_size="50" screen_normal_resolution="1024" screen_tablet_resolution="800" screen_mobile_resolution="480"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][dfd_heading subtitle="" delimiter_settings="delimiter_style:solid|delimiter_width:80|delimiter_height:1" undefined="" title_font_options="tag:h2" subtitle_font_options="tag:div" tutorials=""]

From Vancouver to Cortina the first measures regarding sustainability and the Olympics

[/dfd_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][dfd_spacer screen_wide_spacer_size="15" screen_normal_resolution="1024" screen_tablet_resolution="800" screen_mobile_resolution="480"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]If you look at the history of the Olympics and its venues, it turns out that in reality the path to sustainability had already been taken before 2014 in Munich. In fact, already the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver were hosted by fully sustainable structures (also in the choice of energy sources for the supply of plants), as were the means of transport used.

As was the case at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, the medals in Tokyo will be made entirely of recycled materials and using refurbished discarded equipment. The podiums on which the athletes will climb for the awards are made with plastic recovered from the sea and once the event is over will be relocated to schools and sports facilities. Sustainability is also found in the beds of the Olympic village made entirely of cardboard. According to the world press, the choice would have been made for other reasons, but it is not so, because in reality it is only a decision that falls within the ecological choices.

"Cardboard is an innovative, ecological design material that in recent years is becoming the protagonist of sustainable furniture. In addition, these beds are very durable, supporting a weight of up to 200 kilograms."

As for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games, in addition to the sustainable choices already known, it was decided to use and upgrade all the existing structures and facilities, building only one new one.[/vc_column_text][dfd_spacer screen_wide_spacer_size="50" screen_normal_resolution="1024" screen_tablet_resolution="800" screen_mobile_resolution="480"][dfd_heading subtitle="" delimiter_settings="delimiter_style:solid|delimiter_width:80|delimiter_height:1" undefined="" title_font_options="tag:h2" subtitle_font_options="tag:div" tutorials=""]

We can all be more eco-friendly

The question is very important because for millennia we have asked too much of our planet and now he is asking us everything back.
